Clinical Effect of Broncho-Vaxom on Children with Recurrent Productive(Chronic) Cough

Abstract
|
|
|
This paper presents the results of clinical trial concerned with the effect of BronchoVaxom on children with chronic bronchitis.
Thirty-three children who had recurrent productive cough persisting over two months were selected by their history, ausculatory findings, and chest and PNS X-ray finding. And their mean age was 5.5 years.
Broncho-Vaxom capsule for children was administered one capsule before meal every morning during the first month and for the last 10 days of second and third month consecutively.
The result was as follows ;
1. The mean incidence of recurrent bronchitis was reduced from 3.1 to 1.8 per month after the first month treatment.
2. The cumulative index of symptom was decreased significantly from 12.08 to 2.58 as well as the marked improvement of ausculatory findings and subjective symptoms were achieved.
3. In overall response to the drug, 79.2% of the subject reported they felt very good or good without any side reaction.
These results suggest that Broncho-Vaxom would be a new curative and preventive regimen for the children with recurrent episodes of productive cough.
